Jeff Johnson: Officer in Charge of the USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment Tiger Team in Quantico, Virginia
Prior to entering the Marine Corps, Master Sergeant Jeff Johnson was raised on a farm in rural Wisconsin and attended high school in Wisconsin Dells. Upon entering the Marine Corps in 1982, he was assigned to various artillery units within the 11th and 12th Marine Regiments which provided direct support for infantry regiments in the 1st and 3rd Marine Divisions. Prior to his retirement in 2004, Master Sergeant Johnson was assigned to the Marine Corps Recruiting Command.
Master Sergeant Johnson has seen both of his sons take his place among the ranks of the Marine Corps. Sergeant Johnson recently returned from a combat tour in Iraq with Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion 12th Marines and is stationed at Kaneohe Marine Corps Base in Hawaii and Lance Corporal Johnson is currently deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Since his retirement, Master Sergeant Johnson successfully made the transition from “Warrior” to the “Parent of a Warrior” and from Marine to private citizen. Twenty one years of service has provided him with a unique understanding of the individuals who are serving today and their family members here in Wisconsin. Since 2004 his involvement as the Coordinator for the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, “Mission: Welcome Home” program and now as the Officer in Charge of the USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment Tiger Team in Quantico Virginia have allowed him to employ skills that were developed over his career to assist today’s Marines well as their parents with the transition from active duty service member to veteran.
